Home upgrade details:

At Solaris Green Energy Ireland, we help you take full advantage of every SEAI government grant available. Our main aim is to move your home from a lower energy rating to a high-efficiency B-rating.

To maximize these benefits, it is worth noting that ideally, your home’s current energy rating should fall between D3 and C1. This range represents the “sweet spot” where your property is eligible for the most comprehensive funding—such as the grants managed by Solaris Green Energy Ireland—allowing for a transformative leap to a B2 rating or higher without the prohibitive costs often associated with G-rated properties.

Why the D3 to C2 range is ideal:

  • Grant Accessibility: Homes in this bracket are the primary candidates for the National Home Energy Upgrade Scheme, which requires a starting BER of B3 or lower.
  • Cost-Effective Path to B2: Moving from a D or C rating to the mandatory B2 target is often the most efficient use of grant capital, requiring standard upgrades rather than extreme structural intervention.
  • Performance Leap: You will notice the most dramatic difference in comfort and bill savings by closing the gap between a mid-range rating and a high-performance B-rating.

The “Total Comfort” Package

This package is priced for a 3-bedroom mid-terrace home.

1. The “Total Comfort” Package: €24,999

We have bundled the most impactful upgrades to transform your home’s efficiency. This comprehensive bundle includes:

  • 6 High-Spec Windows: Seal out drafts and external noise.
  • 2 High-Spec Doors: High-performance thermal bridging prevention.
  • Attic Insulation: The “Woolly Hat” that prevents heat escaping through the roof.1
  • Cavity Wall Insulation: The “Blanket” that keeps your walls warm and heat inside.
  • Air-to-Water Heat Pump: 400% efficiency—no more oil or gas bills.
  • High efficiency hot water cylinder: Endless hot water.
  • Solar PV System 4.4kW: Your own roof-top power plant for free electricity.
  • EV Home Charger: Future-proof your transport.
  • Radiators:  High-efficiency radiators included to ensure peak performance.

ELIGIBILITY CHECKLIST

  • BER Requirement: Your home must currently hold a C1 BER rating or lower. Our upgrades are designed to elevate your property to a minimum B2 rating.
  • Technical Assessment: A professional Technical Assessment is required to secure SEAI grants. The customer is responsible to get this done if required.
  • Note: For homes built from 2007 onwards, a full assessment may not be required provided you have a recent BER cert noting your HLI (Heat Loss Indicator).

2. The Financial Logic: SBCI Home Energy Upgrade Loan

This upgrade is supported by the SBCI Home Energy Upgrade Loan Scheme. This government-backed initiative provides significantly lower interest rates than standard personal loans.

  • Loan Basis: Repayments are calculated on a €20,000 loan over a 10-year term.
  • Lender Rates: Participating lenders like AIB, BOI, and An Post offer SBCI-backed rates typically between 3% and 3.9% APR.
  • Monthly Repayment: Calculated at a fixed rate of 3.75% APR (€198/mo).

The Reality of the Math

Most homeowners focus on the €198 monthly loan repayment, but the true cost is determined by your savings.

Scenario A: Home Upgrade Only (No EV)

In a standard D-rated home, you spend roughly €266/mo on heating and electricity. After the upgrade, this drops to €120/mo—a saving of €146/mo. When you apply that saving to your €198 loan, your actual “out-of-pocket” cost is just €52 per month.

Scenario B: Home Upgrade + Electric Car

If you also switch to an Electric Vehicle, your savings skyrocket. You replace €200/mo in petrol/diesel costs with just €34/mo in home charging (utilizing your new Solar PV). This creates a total saving of €312/mo. After paying your €198 loan, you are left with €114 CLEAR PROFIT in your pocket every month.

4. Property Value: The €15k–€25k Equity Boost Example

Moving from a lower energy rating like a D2 to B2 adds roughly 1% to your home’s value for every grade you move up. According to SEAI/Sherry FitzGerald data, a B2 upgrade adds €15,000 to €25,000 in equity immediately as we have moved up 6 grades.

5. Why Modernizing Now is a Smart Investment

Beyond the monthly profit, you are essentially “pre-paying” your future energy bills at a fixed rate. As carbon taxes and energy prices are projected to rise, your €198 loan payment stays exactly the same, making your savings grow every single year. You are replacing unpredictable utility costs with a fixed-term investment that increases your home’s comfort and market value.

6. The 3-Step “Turnkey” Process

  1. Technical Blueprint: Customer to complete Technical Assessment to map the path to a B2 rating or better.
  2. Deep Retrofit Week: Our specialized teams install everything. Solaris is your sole point of contact for installation.
  3. Certification & Grant Finalization: Through our partnership with Ashgrove Renewables, we finalize the SEAI grant paperwork and issue you with a new higher energy rating.

8. Common Questions & Answers

Q: Why are the insulation upgrades listed as “Non-Profit”?

A: We provide Attic and Cavity Wall insulation at our cost because the increased 2026 SEAI grants cover the bulk of the expense, and we want to ensure your home is physically ready for a heat pump.

Q: What if I already have Solar PV installed?

A: We will deduct €1,500 from your total package price. This is permitted only if we can still reach the target B2 rating as determined by a technical assessment.

Q: Can I use my own bank for the loan?

A: Absolutely. Check with your lender for SBCI-backed rates. While our examples use standard rates, some credit unions and banks offer even lower.

Q: Is there really €250 cash for me in this bundle?

A: Absolutely yes, when you recommend a family member or friend, and the bundle is sold to them, you will receive your €250.

Q: Do Heat Pumps really work?

A: The short answer is yes provided your home is ready; the HLI (Heat Loss Indicator) for your home must be under 2.3 or we will not be able to install.

Q: Are Heat Pumps a good investment for my home?

A: A Heat Pump is a top-tier investment especially if you have solar panels to provide free running power and protect you from the rising oil and gas prices and carbon taxes.

Q: What makes a heat pump run?

A: ELECTRICITY. One unit of electricity equals 4 parts heat, which makes heat pumps very efficient.2

Q: What if my home is bigger than a 3-bedroom mid-terrace house?

A: If it is over 100 m² and is not mid-terrace, the price will slightly rise as more materials will be needed.

Q: What home is best suited for this upgrade?

A: To take full advantage of all the grants ideally if your home is D3 to C2 3-bedroom mid-terrace or end of terrace.

Q: What if my home is not between a D2 rating and a C2 rating?

A: Not to worry, we will consider all options as long as you’re not above a B3 rating.
